ACUPUNCTURE

smp02_edited.jpg

Japanese acupuncture is an ancient and effective method used to regulate the body’s functions, control pain and treat various internal dysfunctions and disorders. It is a safe, natural therapy used to heal illness, prevent disease, and improve well-being.

One of the oldest forms of medicine and healing in the world, Japan has practiced acupuncture for 14 centuries.

How it works

Acupuncture is based on the philosophy that disease is caused by stuck energy at specific points in the body. To release stagnant energy, acupuncture taps into the twelve main energy channels or “meridians” that run throughout the human body and connect the internal organs.

Thin, sterile needles are inserted into specific points in the body where they are lightly stimulated to trigger the flow of“qi” (pronounced “chee”) energy, the body’s natural healing process. Qi is similar to the western meaning of vitality or life force.

The process is gentle and usually painless. Sometimes you may feel gentle tingling sensations around the needles, as well as up and down the affected energy pathway as energy begins to unblock and flow freely. Japanese acupuncture differs from Chinese acupuncture in that the needles are slimmer and are inserted into the body less deeply.
